The artist is the one who asks the questions, and the illustrator answers the questions.
An illustrator may want to get closer to being an artist by being able to independently choose the themes to work on. But this independence does not bring him closer to art if he works visually only to confirm the thesis.
We know that the artist explores boundaries. He can even retell an existing phenomenon in his own manner, like an illustrator. Then the decisive factor will be whether this interpretation pushes the viewer into thinking, doubts, questions.
